Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking a Paralegal to join the nuclear team in Columbia, SC.

Job Description

Supervises Adninistrative Assistants and provides training for such assistants.

Oversees the provision of clerical and administrative support to the legal team.

Acts as troubleshooter on legal, contract and insurance issues, researching records and processing forms and legal documents.

Liason between legal staff and admninistrative or technical management an staff, responding to inquiries and requests for information/ approval and / or directing to appropriate counsel, as required.

Coordinates the response to and processes subpoenas/ summons and complaints.

Oversees the logging in of all incoming contracts/ proposals. Establishes deadline date. Researches files for previous relevant contracts to review. Oversees the maintenance of databases and the preparation of monthly reports.

Reviews all incoming contracts/ proposals, e.g., Corporate Resolution, Truth-in-negatiation Certificates, Americans with Disabilities Act Affidavits, Public Crimes Entity, Certificate as to Corporation, Disclosures, Officers of Corporations.

Responds to routine requests for information not requiring the attention of an attorney by either handling directly or forwardingto the proper office or personell. Initiates calls to obtain services, follow-up, or coordinate actions, to relieve executives of administrative workload.

Researches and prepares materials for conferences, trips, appts, meetings, etc., informing approprate personnel and bringing to counsels’ attention any matters requiring their consideration.

Reviews material submitted by others for appropriate legal authorization/ signatures to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and conformance with company policy, alerting writers of any problems.

Composes routine correspondence for responses to subpoenas and other requests for information.

Follows up as needed to ensure counsel are meeting deadline commitments or replies to correspondence by deadline date

Oversees the assembly and preperation of letters, memos, and other documents, which are often of a confidential nature.

Reads and routes incoming mail. If necessary, locates and attaches appropriate file to correspondence to be answered by counsel.
Processes legal publication subscriptions and membership dues.

Performs special assignments as needed, including researching and compiling information and documents and responding to Auditors (external and internal), assisting in the preperation of reports and maintaining databases, and/or assisting in or coordinating staff training.

Maintains legal files and legal library. Prepares legal/ lawsuits storage records listing.

Performs other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.




Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree

At least 8 years relevant corporate experience

Training as legal secretary/ assistant with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the administration of contracts and insurance for a corporation is required

Thorough knowledge of contract processing and liability insurance requirements is required

Due to current law, and in conjunction with the advertised position’s scope of work, candidates that are Non-US citizens are required to be submitted for further approval to the NNSA before being considered for hiring purposes. In addition, any candidates with dual citizenship in the US and another country must undergo further review for approval by the NNSA. Proof of citizenship will be requested upon receipt of application/resume.
