Atkins York office have a strong and growing Permanent Way workload due to current commitments on several large frameworks and multidisciplinary projects across the UK. Our workload and client base is both varied and interesting with our core works comprising line speed & route capacity improvement schemes and S&C remodelling and renewals. In addition to this, the wider Atkins Transportation business is involved in several National Electrification schemes, HS2 and Crossrail Anglia, and some overseas works, further underlining the positive outlook within our Transportation and P Way businesses.



To support this growth, Atkins is looking to recruit a Permanent Way Engineer in the York office to play a key role in the production of current and future P Way design schemes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to produce designs for a variety of different projects, from feasibility studies through to detailed designs. Engineers will also be required to work with and support the development of the Assistant Engineers and Apprentices in the team.

Requirements

Specific skills and past experiences in the following are sought:

• HNC/HND/Degree Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Previous experience in producing P Way designs on a variety of projects
• BRT (preferred) or MX Rail user
• Microstation (preferred) or AutoCAD user
• Gauging and ClearRoute experience desirable
• Knowledge of Network Rail and Railway Group standards relevant to P Way design
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous experience of working with and supporting the development of junior members within a team is desirable
