Our Energy business has been operating for over four decades. You’ll be helping us to design complex new schemes, assure the longevity and integrity of existing infrastructure and deliver innovative consultancy advice to core clients, critical to the success of the global energy market. We have operations based in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North America, and are fully engaged on:

• The development of the next generation of nuclear power stations.
• Maintaining the existing nuclear fleet and decommission those coming to the end of their life.

As a result of recent success bidding for a large contract we are looking for piping designers experienced in equipment modelling, piping layout and pipe support design within a 3D environment, including drafting and calculation of bulk quantities and weights

Requirements

Atkins is currently recruiting for a E3D Piping Designer on an initial 3-month contract, based in our Bristol office, with the option to significantly extend based on initial performance.

Key responsibilities as a E3D Designer:

• Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications, primarily using E3D (Persons Experienced in the use of PDMS will also be considered).
• Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design
• Contribution to design reviews from technical standpoint
• Preparation of technical specifications in liaison with client and project team
• Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process
• Production of design and detail drawings to the appropriate standard and in accordance with the client’s specification.
• Preparation of risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation required by safety legislation and procedures
• Liaise with the Senior Engineer/Lead Engineer to resolve design problems and answer technical queries.
• Reports to Senior Piping Engineer or Design Manager.
• Responsible for managing quality, progress and cost of the work undertaken by their team
• Maybe responsible for managing project sub-contracts
• Interacts with engineers of other disciplines internally and externally
• Nuclear experience or experience from within a regulated environment such as Defence, Pharmaceutical or Oil & Gas.

Skills / Qualifications:
• HNC / HND or equivalent professional qualification with relevant considerable experience.
• Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to draughting function.
• Experienced designer with sound technical background and in-depth knowledge of E3D and PDMS.
• Conversant with codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation applicable to draughting function.
