We are seeking a Planning Manager with extensive experience in the detailed planning of large complex transportation projects. The role within our Transportation Group will be primarily based in Croydon but may involve travel to our other offices nationwide.

The successful applicant will manage the Planning Team, whilst still carrying out productive work and will report into the Project Controls Manager, with accountability to the Project Manager.

Requirements
• A detailed understanding of transportation technologies, including but not limited to: Signalling, Track (P-Way), Structures (tunnels, bridges, earthworks, embankments, buildings, structures, gantries, access platforms etc), Electrification & Plant and Telecoms.
• Experience of programming multi-disciplinary engineering design and managing the resulting interfaces.
• Must have an excellent understanding for how projects are tendered for, the design phase, procurement, constructed and commissioned.
• An expert user of Primavera P6.
• The successful applicant will need to be pro-active, a self-starter and work under their own initiative.
• Must have experience of managing planners, allocating tasks, checking achievements and providing constructive feedback, leadership and management.
• Experience of various forms of contract, including NEC, and knowledge of delay / claims process.
• Experience of Schedule Risk and Cost analysis.
• Experience of preparing resource histograms, performance analysis data, CPI/SPI information and dashboards.
• Must demonstrate a detailed understanding of Project Controls Techniques including, budget and spend management, change control, Earned Value Management, data analysis, trend analysis, Work Package Management and Critical Path Analysis.
• Experience of preparing and monitoring hour by hour programmes for all disruptive possession works.
• Experience of writing and implementing Project Controls processes.
• Experienced Engineering Professional with a qualification in Mechanical/Civil Engineering preferred.
• Member of the APM preferred.


Responsibilities
• You will be responsible for all aspects of Project Controls on assigned Projects.
• Represent Project Controls, attend and lead client progress meetings.
• Provide regular supervision and mentoring to junior members of the team as required.
• Familiar with commercial and financial aspects of project management.
• Build relationships with clients and maintain regular client contact.
• Have a good understanding of Transportation technologies and markets.
• Deliver the project performance data, project schedules and reports in a concise and timely manner as required by the project teams and management, ensuring all issues, changes and delays are highlighted and understood by Senior Management.
• Deliver the necessary reports to allow Senior Managers to direct the project appropriately.
• Conduct Planning Audits on a periodic basis to ensure compliance to process and procedures.
