Atkins is looking for Consultant PMO Specialists to join the Atkins team. This position is based in the South East, however travel may be required where necessary to deliver work at different client sites for extended periods.

It is essential you possess well developed written and verbal communication skills and can demonstrate strong stakeholder skills and/or have consultancy experience.

We have PMO Specialist positions available within Atkins Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology division as part of the continued growth of our PMO Service. The roles are suitable for candidates who have a background in Programme and Project Management Governance and Controls.

Working from within our P3M Practice, you will primarily work as a client facing member of a PMO team. Much of your work will be with our Defence, Security and Intelligence and Government clients.

You will be given significant responsibility for client-facing work from day one. All our Consultants are expected to have regular interactions with clients and to support senior colleagues in delivering specific project outputs.

Consultants are also expected to contribute to Practice and Business Development activities. This may include being part of a bid team, developing new business propositions or researching new market developments.

Experience in the Defence, Security & Intelligence or Government sectors would be an advantage but not essential.

Technical

A working knowledge and demonstrable experience in all or some of the following areas:
• Problem identification, report writing, recommending actions and building relationships with immediate contacts
• Planning, monitoring and reporting
• Change control
• Issue and Risk management
• Document management
• Requirements management
• Finance
• P6 experience
• Experience conducting schedule risk analysis (e.g. using Monte Carlo analysis)
• Working knowledge of financial processes and ability to report financial data
• Agile, APM or PRINCE2 Practitioner or similar are highly desirable
• Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) would be beneficial
• Advanced Excel skills are highly desirable

Responsibilities
• Governance advice and assistance to support adherence to programme and project level processes (such as Agile, APM, PRINCE2 and MSP) using influencing skills to work with a range of stakeholders to agree appropriate actions
• Managing Programme and Portfolio wide initiatives relating to resource utilisation, change control, financials and portfolio development and maintenance
• Producing and analysing programme and Project Level Reporting to ensure projects progress against key criteria such as cost, schedule, risks, issues and benefits is accurately reflected
• Identifying trends and improvement opportunities, highlighting proposed action plans to senior management
• Provide advice and guidance to the client and work effectively within a multi-team environment
• Training, coaching and mentoring other team members and / or customers in relation to methodologies, delivery processes and best practice
• Completing quality assurance review checks to monitor the quality of project reporting and deliverables, to drive improvements across the portfolio
• Helping clients achieve their delivery objectives through the detailed application of one or two elements of the PMO skillset (e.g. risk management, project planner)
