Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Miami office as a Ports & Marine Structural Engineer.   
 
Major Function/Role:
  • This position will be responsible for the structural design and production of diverse projects located in Miami and throughout the US. Will be leader of Ports group for Miami office and provide technical expertise within area of specialization for diverse engineering activities throughout the assigned area of responsibility and/or company-wide. 
 
Job Duties:
  • Lead technical design staff, oversee projects and manage staff workload.
  • Work involves coordination, research and problem solving on a variety of engineering projects with unique or controversial problems, the solution of which has an important effect on major organization programs.
  • Work closely with Architecture, designers, other discipline engineers and project managers as part of a multidisciplinary project delivery team.
  • Ensure that all structural engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate QA/QC procedures.
  • Perform construction administration functions including shop drawing reviews, site visits and RFI response.
  • Prepare construction and project schedules within Microsoft Project.
  • Oversee design team and direct technical aspects of structural engineering.
  • Review and direct geotechnical subsurface investigation reports and use information to prepare structural design recommendations.
  • Prepare proposals for geotechnical subsurface investigations.
  • Comfortable visiting with clients to bring in new work and build relationship with clients.
  • Prepare proposals for new work pursuits.
  • Take ongoing project management training to meet Atkins Managers Essentials Certification Program.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural engineering.
  • Master of Science Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • This level may be achieved with ten years' experience since B.S.
  • Typical incumbent has 15-20 years of experience in civil and structural engineering.
  • Must have at least 10 years of ports, marine structures and/or heavy construction experience.
 Special Skills:
  • Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD or Civil3D.
  • Proficiency with Structural analysis software, i.e. STAAD, RISA 3D, RAM software suite, ETABS, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MathCAD MS Project.
Professional Certifications:
  • Florida P.E. License is required
