Principal Civil Engineer

Atkins Civil Engineering & Advanced Technology Practice are looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer to oversee a wide range of water and wastewater projects - including treatment works, pipeline & pumping stations and collection & storage systems.

This key post will be based out of our Warrington offices and will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with and mentor design teams applying knowledge, experience and problem solving skills whilst providing good opportunities for career development. Responsibilities

• Guiding and managing Civil Engineer delivery of project working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment 
• Oversee project teams in the production of feasibility studies, detail design and construction drawings, specifications and technical reports. 
• Review of designs for projects in accordance with relevant design standards and codes 
• Lead on digital engineering and engage in innovative engineering design solutions 
• Mentor to Engineers, providing line management responsibility 
• Review of deliver programmes and budgets 
• Developing client relationships 
• Promote winning work and support winning work teams 
• Drive the efficient integration of our Global Design Centre’s support in to delivery projects 

Requirements

• A strong technical background, including first principles analysis and use of relevant UK and international codes and standards 
• Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent professional qualification 
• Good understanding of BIM and its application in the water industry 
• Working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 
• Previous experience of design in the Water Industry 
• Highly motivated and with a strong desire to promote technical excellence within project teams and wider Atkins team/practice 
• Working with contractors on site to deliver the implementation of engineering solutions. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with Clients and colleagues alike. 
• Flexible approach to work, including occasional overseas working/visits if required 

Additional Information

Travel to other Atkins and client site locations, including overseas, may be necessary. You should be willing to travel as required from time to time which may involve stays away from home.
