Our Transportation Division is currently seeking a Principal Engineer in our Warrington office. Working in partnership with and reporting to the Practice Manager, your focus will be to plan, manage and develop the Atkins Transportation Client base within the North West. You will be focused on customer relationships, Client needs and project delivery within the Local Government and private development market, helping us to expand within this sector.
You will be expected to work closely with our customers to understand their needs and explain how Atkins’ approach to delivery and technical excellence can be successfully applied to meet Local Government and private developer requirements. Our reputation is created through excellence in delivery and adapting to keep ahead of evolving challenges.
The role is a blend of new business development and managing service delivery to existing Clients. You will be significantly involved in identifying opportunities, tendering new works and supporting existing business relationships and associated project delivery through interacting with our Clients.
Experience with stakeholders is essential.

Responsibilities
· Maintain and develop trusted customer relationships at all levels
· Lead marketing campaigns to develop and win opportunities
· Assist in the management and delivery of bids
· Manage senior stakeholders
· Manage project delivery under new and existing Contracts
· Manage new and existing Public Sector Frameworks
· Present to Clients and key stakeholders in a professional, responsive and Client focused manner
· Populate and maintain business development information using Atkins information and knowledge management systems and processes
· Work collaboratively with other Transportation teams and across the wider Atkins Group
Requirements
Essential
· Appropriate academic and professional qualifications, e.g. Chartered Transport Planner, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer. Member of a relevant Professional Institution.
· Significant experience in Transportation Engineering or Planning, experience of working with key Clients, e.g. Highways England and Local Authorities.
· Broad professional knowledge and judgement.
· Able to successfully manage service delivery to a range of Clients across a range of disciplines in line with Atkins’ right first time culture.
· Able to manage the drafting of successful PQQ/Bid/Tender Documentation across a range of expertise, as well as being able to write high quality text in response to tender questions.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to promote the Company through networking and presentation of technical work.
· Successful in identifying and following up leads associated with new and existing Clients.
· Computer literacy e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable
· Able to realistically estimate pricing associated with project bids across a range of expertise.
· An effective team member able to apply knowledge gained across a broad range of disciplines with an understanding of multi-disciplinary working.
· Able to discuss in detail with Clients the local Atkins business capabilities, technologies and markets.
· Knowledge of Local Authority Planning and Statutory Approval processes.
· Knowledge of programming/resource scheduling software such as MS Project.
· Conversant with the commercial aspects of Project Management.
