RAM Team Leader

The Role
 
Our Energy business has been operating for over four decades and the pace of change has never been greater than it is now.  These are critical times in how the world generates and uses Energy.  Our RAM Engineering expertise is key to the multi-disciplinary design, assurance, and O&M services that we provide to our clients in the Oil & Gas, Conventional Generation, Energy from Waste, Energy Storage and Petrochemical Markets. 

Working alongside our Safety and Process Teams, you will lead a team of RAM engineers located across the UK who are an integral part of the delivery of engineering solutions to the Energy Sector. As such although you may be based in one of our UK offices (Aberdeen, Glasgow or Epsom / London) effective team leadership will require a degree of mobility across the UK in particular.  By joining the vibrant SNC-L / Atkins Energy Business, you will have the opportunity to work across diverse Energy markets.

You will work closely with our clients, both internally within SNC-L/Atkins and externally with Energy operators, etc., regularly consulting with them to develop a full understanding of the relevant design/O&M requirements, ultimately to deliver cost effective, optimal, and innovative solutions. You will be key to driving the RAM business, supported by and leading a motivated team of RAM engineers.

The Person

Ideally, the successful candidate will have strong and demonstrable technical experience of Reliability Engineering processes/practices. Experience should relate to successful project delivery within the Energy sector, focussed on driving business efficiencies and improvements through R&M application/technology.

Evidence of technical experience in Reliability Engineering should include:

• Successfully participating and leading technical delivery of work packages in an asset management programme of work involving the following: 
o Asset reliability/availability simulation modelling using industry recognised software.
o Failure modes, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA).
o Fault tree analysis using industry recognised software.
o Reliability centred maintenance (RCM).
o R&M strategy development – at equipment specific and/or corporate levels.
o Computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) application/interrogation.
o Inventory (spares) optimisation.

Recognising the pace of technology advancements in the Reliability and Maintenance Engineering field, ideally the candidate will also have had significant exposure to:
• Latest advancements in equipment maintenance monitoring, exploiting on-line condition monitoring technologies.
•Digital asset management; application of data analyses techniques to achieving optimum solutions and improving business efficiencies. NB Evidence of technical experience in Digital Asset Management may include project work that has encompassed ‘big data’ analytics technologies eg statistical trending/interrogation based on large populations, inventory & maintenance optimisation, etc.

Further evidence of required capability should relate to successful and demonstrable experience of:
• Leading a team of RAM engineers and / or significant experience of successfully delivering RAM projects.
• Business development expertise specifically, developing Clients and securing work from existing and new Clients. 
• Bid preparation, scoping and costing.
• Technical authorship and technical reviewer.
• Leading RAM programs, possibly involving multidisciplinary support.
• Mentoring and development of junior staff.
• Capability to work on own i.e. at client-site if necessary, as well as office-based work.


In addition to the above you will have: 

• Degree in relevant numerate discipline eg Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics.
• Gained significant RAM experience, preferably within an energy industry environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation/communication skills.
• Project management skills to ensure studies/projects are delivered within agreed budgets and schedules.
• Capability to lead varied and responsible assignments.
• Experience in all project phases from feasibility through detailed design to operation and late life extension.
• Knowledge of relevant asset management and R&M related codes and standards eg ISO 55000 series, BS 5760, NORSOK Z-016, IEC 61508/11, etc.
• Strong Quality, Safety, Environment (QSE) focus. 

Additional Information

Leading, building and maintaining strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You’ll be client focussed – being able to interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.

In addition to building excellent relationships with our clients, you’ll also be able to build excellent relationships within the team, being able to provide comprehensive support to a team within a project, and mentor others, creating an environment where team members are encouraged, challenged and motivated to “be the best they can”. 

Some work outside normal office hours may be necessary. Travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client’s offices may also be required. 

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
