AtkinsRéalis has one of the Rail industry’s largest signaling engineering teams.  You will be joining a AtkinsRéalis Signaling Systems Business with a team of over 100 professional design, project engineers and engineering managers across both Signaling and Telecoms disciplines.  This together with AtkinsRéalis broader cross discipline capability means engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from.

Role:

This role is a senior leader within the project team with responsibility for all Engineering aspects of the project and will provide a consistent approach to delivery, ensure a more assured output and provide the client a more coherent offering.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure a common technology approach (where appropriate) and maximise efficiencies of delivery by sharing of information, best practice and delivery techniques.

The role will also entail interfacing with the client’s engineering function with regard to project development, understanding delivery and project requirements prior to formal contract award and assisting the client in developing project scope and technology options.

NOTE: This role is not intended to supersede or override the role of the individual project CEM / Engineering Manager.

Detailed requirements of the role are noted below:

  • Act as overall Engineering lead for across the Signalling portfolio providing Engineering guidance and technology advice to AtkinsRéalis project teams.
  • Act as overall Engineering lead for the Signalling Portfolio directly interfacing with clients providing support to project development or delivery as required.
  • Provide support to the Signalling Business Management team, including the Project Directors for project in the Signalling Portfolio.
  • Interface with the Signalling Business Technical Director to co-ordinate programme technical requirements and ensure the technical strategy is co-ordinated with the overall Signalling business technical strategy.
  • Interface with the Signaling Business Technical Director and Technical Authority to provide early notification of development requirements and ensure any development requirements are coordinated with the overall Signaling business development strategy.
  • Interface with the Signaling Business Engineering Director and relevant Practice Directors/Managers to provide early notification of programme / project resource requirements and ensure any resource development or recruitment requirements are coordinated with the overall Signaling business resource strategy.
  • Provide support to legacy projects to resolve any post commissioning technical or project close-down issues.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive UK signaling/telecoms project engineering experience at Senior Level.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience.
  • Experience of  CEM / CRE responsibilities on Network Rail infrastructure.
  • Understanding of risk management, CDM and CSM.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Holds applicable IRSE or equivalent Licences/Qualifications.
  • Experience of introducing new equipment / systems onto the rail network.
