Atkins is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join our Oak Ridge Energy Team as a Project Accounting Manager.

Job Description:
The Project Accounting Manger (“PAM”) is responsible for ensuring that all accounting activities relating to specific projects within the project ledger including recording of revenues, accruals, and cost deferrals are performed in an accurate and timely manner.


The PAM also ensures that all project related documentation and data is sufficient to support the financial results reflected in the project accounting module and general ledger. 

The PAM works closely with Financial Analysts and corporate accounting personnel to ensure project related accounts are reported properly and in supporting the development of annual budgets and forecasts.

Oversees all activities related to the project accounting function.

Assists in developing controls to mitigate risks of misstatements and errors in the financial records.

Ensures corporate policies and procedures relating to project financial operations are being adhered to.

Provides information to external and internal auditors as required.

Manages workflow and progress of Project Accountants to ensure all month and quarter end accounting close processes and procedures have been completed in a timely manner.

Manages staff selection, development and retention. Establishes and monitors work goals and objectives.

Evaluates employees through performance reviews, ongoing coaching and feedback methods.

Provides direction and guidance to staff on all project accounting matters.

Follows organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff is in compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Strong Financial Analysis skills.

Excellent Excel skills.

Detailed understanding of revenue recognition principles.

Strong supervisory skills with the ability to effectively review the work of subordinates.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong critical thinking skills for identifying strategies to increase project accounting efficiencies.

Detailed understanding of internal controls.

Effective at meeting time critical deadlines.



Bachelor's degree required in accounting or business management.

A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience with a minimum of 4 years of project-specific accounting experience.
