Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated Project Controls Manager to join our Atlanta, GA office. A primary role for the Project Controls Manager (PCM) is to oversee the contracted project controls staff. The PCM acts as the primary point of contact with clients to plan future capital project requirements, provide updates on current projects, and address issues that could impact business operations.

JOB DUTIES:

Manages and oversees program controls team for design and construction projects. Responsible for overseeing the project planning, scheduling, cost estimating and monitoring of projects. Manages program controls personnel including cost analyst, schedulers, estimators and document control professionals. Establishes and updates operating policies to increase efficiency and mitigate risk. Provides guidance and consultation for Project Managers and Construction Managers. Reports to the Deputy Program Manager.

 

  • Ensures projects are executed in accordance with contractual requirements, Program Management Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.

 

  • Analyzes variances in cost and schedule performance against the plan, and communicates the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management.

 

  • Supervises the implementation of Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures for control and integrity of work to be performed as defined by the contract.

 

  • Provides regular, timely updates on project status to senior leadership.

 

  • Experience implementing program controls dashboards is preferred.

 

  • Experience implementing PMIS systems is preferred.

 



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of project management, project scheduling and cost management experience.

 

  • Experience leading a group of estimators, schedulers and cost engineers.

 

  • Experience on large Capital Improvement Programs, ideally for municipalities.

 

  • Experience with project schedule management software (MS Project, Primavera, P6 etc.), project execution management software (eBuilder, etc.), change management software (Trackwise), and Microsoft Excel.

 

  • Engineering degree or demonstrated experience leading engineering projects within the Civil Engineering field preferred, but not required.

 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred, but not required.

 

  • Knowledge of Oracle financial systems is a plus.

 

  • Lean Project Delivery management experience, including Integrated Project Delivery Teams, IFOA / Shared-Risk Contracts, Last Planner / Pull Planning, and Target Value Design / Target Budgeting knowledgeable preferred, but not required.

 

  • Excellent team leadership skills, oral / written communication skills, facilitation skills and business acumen.
