Project Director – Water/Wastewater

  • Atkins is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Riyadh, KSA office as a Water/Wastewater Project Director. He will lead projects for water and wastewater clients in Saudi Arabia related to water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure which may be comprised of water distribution and sewage collection systems, pump stations, reservoirs, hydraulic structures, and water/wastewater treatment facilities (including desalination).
  • The successful candidates will have the ability to work as Project Director and lead a team of Project Managers and engineers, technical specialists and CAD technicians, based in country or remotely.

Capabilities required

  • Part of a multi-functional team responsible for delivering a large number of varied projects in accordance with the client’s requirements.
  • Complete review of existing operations within the client organisation, assessing both the strengths and weaknesses and compiling reports for presentation to the client.
  • Chair weekly/ monthly progress meetings.
  • Ensure resources are appropriate to meet current and future commitments and to maximise opportunities.
  • Experience of optioneering, scoping and feasibility studies
  • Experience of outline and detailed mechanical design work within water and wastewater areas
  • Proven ability in report and specification writing required.
  • Good communication skills required to interface with both sector managers and internal technical staff.
  • Ability to work to technical, programme and budget requirements.
  • The role is based in Atkins Riyadh office and will require ability to travel within KSA.
Education and Professional Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering (BSc or MSc in Civil or equivalent Engineering field)
  • Professional Membership (APM or similar bodies) preferable
  • 20 years experience minimum
  • minimum of 10 years of experience in supervisory roles managing teams of ten or more professionals
  • Previous experience in KSA or GCC region preferable

Skills

  • Project Management experience.
  • Must have experience in delivering master plans
  • Experience in engineering design teams for major water / wastewater engineering infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with ME Water Industry practices
  • Demonstrable track record in the delivery of large water / wastewater master plans and large water transmission systems
  • Knowledge of current design management processes
  • Understanding of BIM and its application in the water industry
  • Ability to identify innovative solutions
  • Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures both within projects, with clients and internally.
  • The successful candidate will also be able to mobilise people and teams and drive for a successful delivery.
