Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team in Orlando, Florida as a Project Management Group Leader.


Job Duties:

You will act as the group leader, leading by example, acting as a client liaison for large projects and as necessary, manage and oversee project management group’s projects/portfolio and ultimately be responsible for overseeing PMs with project scheduling, budget tracking and oversight, quality assurance and quality control of deliverables, draft/update/maintain the portfolio management plan, assistance with requirements analysis, technical writing as necessary and other management related responsibilities as assigned. Travel will be required as necessary to support on-site client meetings and supervision of distributed project resources.


Job Details:

Initiate Projects - For assigned projects, complete project initiation documents which include detailed work scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion.

Manage Project Implementation - With assigned project team, ensure that all steps and procedures are taken according to SOPs and that all work is completed as planned and scheduled. This includes keeping the client informed of the on-going status of a project and providing adequate management, advice, and support to the members of the project team.

Coordinate/Communicate with Peers - Work with other project managers to avoid or eliminate conflicts in schedule due to the changes in various projects.

Provide Technical Advice - Contribute to the development of recommendations for assigned projects and others, when requested.

Maintain Project Status - Keep the project status reporting system (database) current with the actions and changes that take place on assigned projects so the overall organization is able to respond to client requests.

Prepare High Quality Reports - Ensure that the review process and other quality control guidelines are followed and that final reports and presentations are completed per SOPs.


Qualifications:

Assist with establishment of project teams, oversee completion of project configuration documentation and review detailed scopes of work and project schedules in support of project management activities

Review and directing project management group resource allocation with project leads to meet the firm’s project scheduling commitments and billing objectives

Manage large and complex projects (this is a leader/doer position)

Responsible for establishing uniformly high production and quality standards for PM team, projects and staff

Oversight for the professional development of project management resources

Producing accurate reports on a timely basis; understanding the applicability of reports to corporate management decision making; and review of reports of budget center staff and the corporate accounting group to insure accuracy and to identify early trends

Insure Executive Management is informed of all project trends and developments; at all times insuring a true and candid assessment of project status.

Keeping confidential materials of the firm secure; discloses information about the firm only when appropriate

Teaming with the other members of the firm’s senior management to advance the general interests of the firm

Project reporting to PMs and internally to management

Project status presentations (internal & external)

Travel to client/potential client sites throughout the United States on a regular basis 

Review timesheets

Coordination with the firm’s executive leadership 


Education and Experience: 

Bachelor's degree in field(s) of practice. Graduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus. This level may be achieved with ten years of experience in project production and technical professional activities, four of these working as a project manager.
