Atkins’ Transportation is our centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first choice designer for local and national highway authorities, Network Rail, contractors and developers. We are working on a number of high profile projects and frameworks nationwide, including Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade and Smart Motorways programme through the Collaborative Delivery Framework for Highways England, Cross Rail, Great Western Electrification Programme, HS2 and related projects.

The Rail business of Atkins is looking to recruit a number of Project Managers with a range of experience to join our Project delivery practice delivering £ Multi-Million rail infrastructure projects. The roles will include managing experienced design and delivery teams within our Transportation division and will primarily be based in the South, South East and Southwest.

Our Project Delivery practice within our Transportation division provides support and guidance to the whole of Transportation in project management, project controls and quality and technical assurance. Project Delivery leads on our portfolio of major projects within both Strategic Rail & Highways. This includes functional leadership and standards for how we govern our projects.

Requirements
• We are seeking candidates able to demonstrate a high level of project management capability for their experience bands, who can ensure delivery to time and budget on large and complex design projects and groups of smaller projects.
• You will be a project manager with a proven track record in the UK infrastructure engineering sector, preferably Rail Signalling or Telecoms led multi-disciplinary projects and have experience of managing design and construction programmes demonstrating proven abilities to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders.
• The appointed candidates will have a track record of successful delivery on a wide portfolio of projects. 
• Experience of managing construction programmes and administering construction contracts would be advantageous.
• We are looking for candidates with experience of delivering high complexity Major Projects and we would welcome applications from high achievers from sectors such as Rail/Transportation, Construction, Petrochemical, Nuclear, Automotive, Defense (Command & Control) or similar with a transferable skill set.


The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
• Extensive project management experience with a proven track record in delivering highly complex engineering/construction projects in a timely and safe manner.
• Well developed leadership, communication, negotiating, influencing and inter-personal skills, with the drive and commitment to achieve project objectives.
• Commitment to provide inspirational safety leadership and ability to deliver high standards on health and safety.
• Experience leading projects under a range of Contract types.
• Proven track record in establishing and building relationships with suppliers, client/contractors and internal stakeholders.
