Project Manager - Water/ Wastewater

The Atkins Transport and Infrastructure Business is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Riyadh, KSA office as a Water/Wastewater Project Manager. He will lead projects for water and wastewater clients in Saudi Arabia (mainly NWC and SWCC), related to water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure which may be comprised of water distribution and sewage collection systems, pump stations, reservoirs, hydraulic structures, and water/wastewater treatment facilities (including desalination).

 

The successful candidates will have the ability to work as Project Manager and lead a team of engineers, technical specialists and CAD technicians, based in country or remotely.

 

Capabilities required:

  • Part of a multi-functional team responsible for delivering a large number of varied projects in accordance with the client’s requirements.
  • Complete review of existing operations within the client organisation, assessing both the strengths and weaknesses and compiling reports for presentation to the client.
  • Chair weekly/ monthly progress meetings
  • Ensure resources are appropriate to meet current and future commitments and to maximise opportunities
  • Experience of optioneering, scoping and feasibility studies
  • Experience of outline and detailed mechanical design work within water and wastewater areas
  • Proven ability in report and specification writing required
  • Good communication skills required to interface with both sector managers and internal technical staff
  • Ability to work to technical, programme and budget requirements.

 

The role is based in Atkins Riyadh office and will require ability to travel within KSA.

 

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.

 

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.

 

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.



Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (BSc or MSc in Civil or equivalent Engineering field)
  • Professional Membership (APM or similar bodies) preferable
  • 8 to 10 years experience minimum
  • Previous experience in KSA or GCC region preferable

 

Skills

  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in engineering design teams for major water / wastewater engineering infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with ME Water Industry practices
  • Demonstrable track record in the delivery of large water / wastewater projects such as desalination plants, wastewater treatment plants or large pipelines
  • Knowledge of current design management processes
  • Understanding of BIM and its application in the water industry
  • Ability to identify innovative solutions
  • Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures both within projects, with clients and internally
  • The successful candidate will also be able to mobilise people and teams and drive for a successful delivery.
