SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Lake City, FL team as a Public Information Specialist.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Works with clients in geographic area of responsibility and is responsible for assisting the public affairs program with public relations, public information, government affairs, community outreach, web site maintenance, graphic design and media relations for clients and their projects.

JOB DUTIES
  • Applies academic knowledge/training to public outreach projects.
  • Assignments at this level typically involve routine projects. Although, they may be characterized by challenging client/agency demands or complex project coordination.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations, English, Public Administration, or related degree; excellent writing and proofreading skills; and strong verbal communication skills required. Internship in consulting firm preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Job requires ability to establish effective working relationships with the media, employees, managers, citizens appointed and elected officials.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to make persuasive public presentations.
  • Ability to listen and respond to citizens and other customers on a variety of issues.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Minimal knowledge of Web design program (e.g. Dreamweaver) and graphic design program (e.g. PhotoShop, Illustrator, Publisher) is preferred.
  • English/Spanish bilingual is highly desirable.
