Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team as a Public Relations Manager in Denver, CO.

Job Description

Under general direction, develops, executes, and manages public relations strategy for the U.S. and Latin America region.

Liaises with corporate and sector communications teams, aligning sector goals/tactics with regional business development strategies to gain earned media attention.

Provides public relations strategy, guidance, and editorial support for business units, technical staff and business development.

Responsible for managing all aspects of projects from concept development through completion.

Job Duties


Contributes to and executes PR strategy/tactics around specific topics and events, capitalizing on key messages for business markets/focus areas

Researches and writes press releases and pitches story ideas to editors to market company through diverse media channels (industry print and electronic publications, business publications, social media outlets, blogs, website)

Writes and/or edits op-eds and thought leadership articles for senior management and technical staff

Frequently interacts with sales, business unit, and project management teams to apply cross-functional approaches to initiatives that gain industry recognition and raise brand awareness

Tracks and files media clips, alerting senior management of new developments when necessary

Develops strong relationships with key media contacts

Maintains media contact database and handles media release distribution

Makes and fields media calls under direction of supervisor

Liaises with corporate and sector public relations teams

Performs additional duties as necessary

Handles multiple tasks and complex coordination of activities under deadline driven time constraints

Works under general direction of the Communications Director, who reports to the Regional VP of Communications.

Makes independent decisions concerning general media content and consults senior leadership and/or corporate communications for high profile or sensitive issues that could negatively impact our corporate brand/reputation

Must be able to lead teams, manage projects and workload, and prioritize tasks (while being respectful to time requirements of team members) to deliver world-class deliverables within established deadlines

Regularly interfaces with the technical and administrative managers and staff throughout firm

Represents the organization to media representatives, clients, industry experts, PR/marketing consultants, and the public



Job Requirements & Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, public relations, marketing, or related major, and 8 years of relevant experience including at least 5 years of experience in a similar technical B2B marketing environment.

Requires a thorough understanding of the tools and techniques employed in marketing, advertising, and public relations principles as well as the ability to take a hands-on role to deliver day-to-day activities in these disciplines.

Must be able to think strategically and effectively articulate ideas in a fast-paced environment.

An understanding of specific technologies and processes related to production of communications materials is also required.

Previous experience in public relations for the engineering industry is desirable.

Requires excellent research, writing and editing, and interpersonal skills; excellent command of the English language to effectively communicate both orally and in writing; ability to understand the strategy, values and culture of the company and apply that understanding to support the marketing, sales and strategy, and growth goals of the company.

Must be proactive, deadline driven, organized, and detail-oriented.

Must be able to handle multiple priorities and can prioritize.
