Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, CO Quality Group as a Quality Engineer II. Denver, CO is the preferred location for this position but consideration may be made to have this position sit in another Atkins North America Western Region office.

**Please note, This is not a traditional engineering position, and the work is focused on creating and implementing a quality program, not on actual design work.**


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Works in the Atkins North America quality group to continue to develop and implement the quality program. This can include activities such as auditing, procedure development, quality tool development, data analysis, etc.


JOB DUTIES

  • Conduct audits as part of an audit team.
  • Prepare quality procedures, and templates for the overall quality program. This includes writing text.Prepare quality procedures, and templates for the overall quality program. This includes writing text.
  • Assist project teams in developing and implementing a project quality program compliant with organization quality requirements.
  • Conduct analysis of quality data to identify areas of improvement.
  • Assist in educating staff on basic quality principles and the overall quality program.
  • Plan and participate in visits to various field, offsite, subconsultant and office locations.
  • Update job knowledge by studying trends in and development in quality management; participating in education opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhance the quality group and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Assist in developing quality tools and systems for the overall quality program. This may include working with databases applications.
  • Assist with writing and reviewing of all quality documents.
  • Use engineering knowledge to assist with the development of appropriate quality procedures for the diverse types of work conducted by the organization.
  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis of quality data.
  • Participate in quality projects that can involve people from various levels of the organization, and subconsultants.
  • Assist in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports for the quality program.
  • Performs such assignments and duties as the Supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since Bachelor's degree.


SPECIAL SKILLS

Good interpersonal, technical writing, computer and communications skills.

Requires strong PC skills and ability to work in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project). Strong knowledge of materials management systems preferred.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT preferred.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Some working knowledge of quality basics and fundamentals. This is not a traditional engineering position, and the work is focused on creating and implementing a quality program, not on actual design work.

Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to travel to other Atkins offices or project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to assemble and analyze data.
