Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking a Radiological Control Supervisor to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN

 

Job Summary

Radiological Control Supervisor in Oak Ridge, TN. is responsible for implementing the Radiation Safety Program at a project or within various radiation safety disciplines, including managing staff.
Ensures projects comply with applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures regulating radiation safety.

 

Assists the Radiation Safety Officer in compiling compliance reports and overseeing regulatory recordkeeping and submission of reports to regulatory agencies.

Provides oversight, direction and training to project personnel to ensure all radiation safety activities related to a project are conducted in compliance with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to ensure high quality products and services for Atkins Nuclear Secured customers.

Supervises project assigned Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) and oversees daily radiological operation, including daily set-up of field and on-site laboratory instrumentation. Manages the development and implementation of training programs for staff on technical compliance procedures.

Completes radiation work plans and enforces compliance.

Develops and implements radiation safety procedures for project radiation safety staff.

Provides training project staff to ensure compliance with radiation safety procedures.

Assists the Radiation Safety Officer in the implementation of radiation safety procedures in response to new regulations at the federal, state and local levels, including MARSSIM and MARSAME release surveys.

Conducts daily inspections to keep a project in compliance with licenses and regulations and ensures adequate staffing job coverage.

Follows organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff is in compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned



Required and Desired Skills


A minimum of 5 years of experience in applied health physics or similar work relevant to the radiological hazards associated with radiological project.

Experiece in proper application and use of all health physics equpment used for monitoring the radioactive hazrds associate with project work.

Knowledge in chemcial and analytical procedures used for radiological samping and monitoring

Knowledge of methodologies used to calculate personnel exposure to the radionuclides present on project work

Experience at DOE and/or USACE project sites

Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, industrial hygiene, or engineering, or equivalent combination of training and experience

National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) certification preferred

Effective verbal and written communication skills

General knowledge of local, state and federal radiation safety compliance regulations

General knowledge of the interpretation of local, state and federal radiation safety compliance regulations

General knowledge of the principles and practices of radiation safety

General knowledge of, and skill in using, radiation monitoring and laboratory research procedures and methods and instrumentation related to radiation safety

Detailed knowledge of operational health physics and general knowledge of one or more of the following areas: dosimetry, instrumentation and waste management

Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and report qualitative and quantitative data

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and their use (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and database applications

Ability to travel and work on remote projects

Ability to access project work areas via stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc.

Ability to successfully pass a physical examination and be enrolled in a medical surveillance program



Due to current law, and in conjunction with the advertised position’s scope of work, candidates that are Non-US citizens are required to be submitted for further approval to the NNSA before being considered for hiring purposes.
