Rail Vehicle Advisory - Support Engineer

With this in mind, we are looking to recruit a Rail Vehicle (Rolling Stock) Advisory Support Engineer to join our Rail Vehicle Advisory team to support the delivery of advisory projects. As part of the Rail Vehicles Consultancy Practice the candidate would be based in our Derby office but there will be a requirement to travel within the UK and abroad.
 
As a member of the advisory team the successful candidate would be required to work on advisory type projects which requires liaison with none rail vehicle and often none engineering disciplines and therefore the candidate should be able to put across their knowledge and ideas in none technical language to support the clients in their decision making


The Individual
 
  • A developed or developing Rolling Stock Engineer with knowledge of Mainline Rolling Stock and Rolling Stock Systems, light rail and metro experience would also be advantageous
  • Proven knowledge of commercial, procurement, leasing and franchising arrangements within the UK rail industry. Overseas experience would be advantageous
  • Understanding of the risks (technical and commercial) associated with operating rolling stock in the UK and overseas
  • A hard working and flexible individual, who is reliable, proactive and innovative, whilst able to keep calm under pressure and when working to often demanding deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Able to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with both clients and internally
  • Be available to travel across the UK, and internationally, as required
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Degree level Engineer or equivalent professional qualification
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Support the Rail Vehicle Advisory team to deliver projects and bids to Clients.
  • Contribute to Advisory projects 
  • Support Practice Manager and advisory team to identify and develop business opportunities
  • Support business development with technical expertise
