Our Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T) business is a technical consultancy, and we provide advice and engineering expertise to public, regulated and private sector clients.
We deliver a range of services including Project Management, Business Consulting, Asset Assurance, Mechanical Design & Analysis and Technology Consulting, Communications and Systems into the Aerospace, Defence, Security & Intelligence, and Civil Government and Infrastructure markets.
The Resource Management team who work across our business is currently expanding to meet increased demand from our clients. The team’s work supports the practices in ensuring they can meet the demand from external/internal clients as well as working with the client teams to understand future opportunities. The team are responsible for resourcing across a very diverse set of skills & projects. The team are expected to maintain up to date resource information for all staff, detailing project allocations and will work with the Practice Managers to identify skills gaps and plan subsequent resolution. The team have a wide network of stakeholders & contacts and constant and clear communication is important. Staff working within the team have the opportunity to challenge themselves through delivering creative resource solutions to a range of different stakeholders and projects. This role would ideally suit someone with resource or recruitment experience, or a proven background in business support.
The responsibilities
• To support the Resource Manager in identifying people to deliver internal and external projects and bids. Where resources are not available within the practice, to help manage other resource supply options (other practices/businesses or supply chain).
• Maintain the Resource Management system (RMS), which captures allocations and potentials for each part of the Practice (4 sub practices). The RMS tool will produce an outlook of resource demand as well as show leave, training, new starters/leavers & calculate a productivity forecast for the practices, producing this MI will be part of the role.
• To act as delegate for the Resource Manager and ensure visibility to all resource demanders.
• Working and supporting Practice Managers directly as well as providing support across the RM team as appropriate.
• Support the RM function (and capability leads) in optimising the allocation of staff to projects and bids to best support and balance business requirements and aspirations of staff.
• Supporting the Resource Manager to understand the medium to long-term resource requirements, and feeding ‘potential’ requirements into the resource tracker (RMS).
• May be required to support capability leads to understand skill gaps/resource shortfall and support the RM is formulating a solution.
• To develop a broad understanding of the staff’s skill sets, mobility and where possible development needs/aspirations.
• Supporting the Resource Manager in maintaining relationships and a list of contacts in other Atkins businesses with similar skills.
The requirements
Essential Criteria
• Appropriate knowledge and experience in the use/maintenance of resource management tools
• Clearly evidenced successful track record of providing business support.
• Good all-round administration skills, including an in-depth understanding of the MS office suite i.e. word, excel etc.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage challenging situations and resolve conflict
• Strong support skills
• Approachable and able to hold challenging and effective conversations
• Good communication skills at all levels
• Flexible, considerate and approachable
• Acting with integrity and trust
• Ability to develop and maintain peer and senior manager relationships
• A desire to be challenged and to contribute to the success of the business.
Although the role is based in Bristol or Aldershot a proportion of time will also be spent in other Atkins offices, flexibility is therefore a pre-requisite.
Security
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
