Risk and Resilience is one of Atkins priorities for growth, and Resilience specialists at senior and junior levels are required to support our existing portfolio of projects and provide capacity to grow the business and support future opportunities. The people we’re seeking to employ will enjoy contributing across a portfolio of consultancy projects and will thrive in a busy, innovative and challenging environment. You’ll be technically excellent, whatever your level of experience and will be equally happy presenting to a client or developing technical details back at the office.

These roles will involve working primarily with clients in the transportation sector, however we have a wide range of clients in a number of other sectors such as Energy, Infrastructure, Aerospace, Defence and Security. The focus of the role will be project delivery, with some support activities including project bidding. In addition, there will be opportunities to manage your own projects as part of your role.

The roles will be located at our Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester offices, and regular travel to other UK offices and occasionally overseas forms part of this role.

Responsibilities
• Contributing to the delivery of projects related to resilience and asset management
• Presenting technical solutions to clients and other stakeholders
• Developing the skills and expertise of junior staff
• Complying with company processes and policies, and ensuring adherence to safety, welfare, quality and environmental requirements
• Supporting project bidding activities
• Promoting resilience work within Atkins and externally

Requirements
• Academic qualification in disaster management, emergency planning, business continuity or similar discipline
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an academic qualification
• Member of a relevant professional body such as the Emergency Planning Society or Business Continuity Institute
• Up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant resilience legislation and guidance
• Experience of working in resilience, emergency planning, business continuity, risk management or asset management
• Experience in delivering emergency management training and exercising
• A track record of developing long term client relationships, project delivery and winning work
• Understanding of project management principles
• Team leadership / development experience
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to work in a client facing environment, with good communication skills
• An excellent report writing ability

Desirable
• Operational experience for a government agency or a utility or transport operator, their service providers or a similar organisation
• Experience in climate change adaptation
• Application of risk management principles
• Background in digital or cyber enhancement
• Experience in managing and delivering projects and meeting client expectations
• Project management skills
