Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Houston, TX Construction Management Group as a Roadway/Bridge Construction Inspector II or III.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ROLE:
Under general supervision, researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is proceeding in substantial compliance with plans, contracts, specifications and special provisions. NOTE: Incumbents do not supervise any contractors' activities and are not responsible for job site safety.

JOB DUTIES:
Applies conventional field observation practices in diversified construction projects of medium to large complexity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma (or equivalent) plus twelve years related experience OR an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus ten years related experience is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Good oral communications skills and ability to organize information. Math computation skills and understanding of contract plans and specifications.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
No Professional Registrations required. May be required to obtain certification in nuclear density, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing or other applicable areas.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
TXDOT experience highly preferred in construction management field as inspector. Previous relevant work is required. Compensation package is contingent upon client approvals and agreement relevance of previous experience. Relevant and current TXDOT certifications a plus.

DOT Experience (TxDOT preferred) for roadways and bridges should address:

Excavation/embankment
Lime or cement stabilized subgrade and/or base courses
Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement (Method or QCQA Specification)
Concrete Pavement
Bridge Inspection of Drill Shafts, Piling, Columns, Caps, Beam placement, Slab Placement.
SW3P and Barricade Inspection
Project documentation for payment and material testing (Site Manager a +)
