Highway Designer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent technical discipline plus fifteen years' experience, or Associate's degree plus a minimum of twenty years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least twelve as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of twenty five years progressive drafting and design experience, including at least fifteen as a Designer.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

No registration required; however, incumbent should be seeking applicable registration if movement onto the Engineering or Architecture career path is contemplated.


SPECIAL SKILLS

Microstation SS4 required. AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred, but not required.

Organized and self motivated.

Experience with CDOT standards and able to adapt to multiple local agency standards.

Good technical writing and communication skills.

Job requires ability to process paper/electronic documents and operate computer equipment. Ability to communicate effectvely and work under the pressure of multiple deadlines. Ability to interpret data, conceptualize ideas, and prepare designs.
