Atkins is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starters to join our Miami team as an Scientist II with 4 to 6 years of experience at a minimum. Under supervision, performs standard scientific work while developing professional proficiency.

In this role we are looking for a team member to provide GIS support using the ArcGIS platform to assist with environmental constraints analysis on a project by project basis. The ArcGIS platform will be utilized to analyze various types of environmental influences (e.g. wetlands, threatened and endangered species, contamination, land rights/ownership interest) to provide clarity as to the environmental protective actions that will need to be contemplated during the subsequent project phases. This candidate will need to be able to work in a team environment and the current expectation is a part time as needed basis. There is the potential for field work, so the candidate needs to be accustomed and prepared to work in hot and humid conditions.

Job Duties:

Generally applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified environmental evaluation tasks, requiring the use of land utilization analysis, natural resource interpretation, and deductive reasoning based on regulations established by local, state and federal government, and being able to detect problems in using standardized procedures.

Education and Experience:

B.S./B.A. or M.S. in a field of Science to commensurate with hiring discipline.  This level may be achieved by Scientists with minimum of 4 years' experience with Bachelor's degree or two years' experience with Master's degree; typical incumbent has 5 years' experience.

Special Skills:

Strong GIS skills.


Familiarity with Florida ecological communities.

Basic knowledge of Florida regulatory (permitting) framework.

Good analytical skills and attention to detail; technical writing, computer and communication skills.

Beneficial to be SCUBA certified.
