The UK Regional Support Services are looking to appoint a Sector Commercial Controls and Improvement Manager.

Reporting to the EDPM Commercial Director, the Sector Commercial Controls and Improvement Manager will ensure consistent commercial and governance controls are implemented and monitored across the sector to minimise losses and maximise the commercial outcomes including greater prediction forecasting of those commercial outcomes across the organisation. Providing value to the business by highlighting areas for improvement in commercial and governance controls to maximise commercial outcomes in the organisation whilst freeing up businesses to concentrate on winning work.

Principal duties will include the development, analysis, reporting and management of key commercial and governance performance metrics including prediction of outcomes; undertaking root cause analysis on losses and liability claims; embedding and controlling consistent risk identification, mitigation and escalation; improved, consistent, contingency management. Also working closely with the Head of Risk and Governance to implement the controls required to ensure successful embedding of the risk and governance processes across EDPM.

Some examples of the type of analysis to be undertaken are Stage Gate compliance, Stage Gate Reviewer performance, project downturn root cause analysis, project contingency control, commercial and governance process effectiveness.





Key Attributes
It is expected that the Sector Commercial Controls and Improvement Manager shall demonstrate the following attributes:
• A proven, broadly based track record in development, analysis and reporting of key metrics ideally in a related industry
• Demonstrable experience in the development, implementation and management of Key Performance Indicators to improve business operation/performance
• Experienced in the management of risk
• Expertise in root cause analysis
• Expert knowledge of data mining and aggregation from multiple bespoke systems
• Experience of business change and improvement implementation
• Pragmatic individual who can identify solutions that will fit a broad profile of projects
• Confident presenter with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• Comfortable in a team working environment and with the ability to broker relationships with key stakeholders
• Capable of working independently and with minimum supervision
• Innovative and flexible in approach, strategically minded

Key Responsibilities
The Sector Commercial Controls and Improvement Manager will be responsible for the following key deliverables:
• To actively participate as a key member of the EDPM leadership Team
• To establish and implement where necessary controls to assist in the maintenance and monitoring of compliance with EDPM Sector (UK&E, Asia Pacific, Middle East, North America, Australia) and SNCL governance systems and processes
• Work closely with the Head of Risk and Governance to implement the controls required to ensure successful embedding of the risk and governance processes across EDPM
• Capture and perform root cause analysis on liability claims to identify improvements; working with process owners to embed required improvements to mitigate future claims
• Assess, analyse and improve the compliance and effectiveness of the stage gate process and tools
• Work closely with Commercial Directors across the Sector to improve the ability to predict issues that will impact the organisation’s performance including margin.
• Work closely with the Deliver Work Steering Group to improve the contingency allocation to projects reducing the scale of project downturns across the Sector
• Align EDPM controls with those required by SNC-Lavalin, ensuring efficient processes that do not require duplication of effort or reporting.
• Work closely with relevant steering groups and business change lead forums to effectively and efficiently embed commercial related changes into the Sector
• Ensuring the overall, rich, picture across the range of commercial and governance controls is developed, captured and reported
• Provide regular metrics to senior management, as required, setting out predictive outcomes, process effectiveness and lagging and leading indicators
• Work closely with the Sector Commercial Director to identify areas for improvement and using a cost/benefit analysis identify the most appropriate solution for the sector
• To demonstrate collaborative behaviours in all aspects of the role

Desirable attributes:
• Experienced user of Atkins systems and tools including ARM, CRM, i-Gate, Stage Gates, JDE and Enterprise Advantage
• Working knowledge of Atkins business management processes and policies including Service Delivery Process.
• Expertise in data manipulation and presentation tools such as Microsoft’s PowerBi
