SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Architecture Team in Austin as a Senior Architect.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under general direction, provides technical expertise to diverse architectural projects throughout the assigned area of responsibility and/or company- wide. May function as lead architect or consultant with ability to sign/seal architectural documents.

JOB DUTIES

  • Work involves planning and developing architectural projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major company programs.
  • Performs work which regularly requires analysis and deductive reasoning.
  • Duties typically involve the development of design and complete construction documents including detailing of all systems and components for large, complex, projects.
  • Oversee construction administration including review of submittals and construction questions.
  • Lead diverse architectural teams including project teams with multiple consultants.  Mentor, coach, and lead junior staff. 
  • Review and/or write specifications.
  • Prepare code reviews and resolve permitting issues.
  • Maintain and build relationships with clients.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Seven years’ experience since architectural degree on larger, commercial construction.

 
 
SPECIAL SKILLS
 
  • Proficient in Revit and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient of architectural practice including documentation, detailing, construction technologies, and building materials for projects of all scales.  Able to develop complete set of construction documents including detailing of all systems and components. 
  • Experience in all phases of design from conception through construction administration. 
  • Knowledge of building, environmental, and life safety codes. 
  • Strong verbal, technical writing, and graphical communication skills. 
  • Team player with ability to lead diverse architectural teams including project teams with multiple consultants. 
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and lead junior staff. 
  • Ability to write and review specifications a plus.
 


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

  • Registered as a licensed architect is required.
 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
 

  • As the successful candidate will be providing services on a federal contract, you must be a US citizen to apply for this position.
