Senior CAD Technician

Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Melbourne, FL Civil Group as a Senior CAD Technician. 

• Under general supervision, provides sophistication and expertise in the performance of computer-assisted design to support civil site development and infrastructure engineering services of the company.
• Applies engineering fundamentals to engineering design; and production of drawings in support of engineering projects.

• This position is for a site civil CAD technician.
• Specific skills include site civil drafting including using AutoCAD Civil 3-D for construction plan development.
• The candidate will be familiar and efficient at site geometry, grading and utility plan sheets, sections, details, profiles. Able to create construction plan sets based on direction PM and collaboration with the design team.
• Familiar with agency design requirements and experienced with code research to validate design components.
• Performs varied and complex computer-aided drafting and independent design work.
• Work involves analytical ability for handling technical details, such as using mathematical formulas, interpreting simi-complex ordinances and specifications, and analyzing design requirements.
• Incumbents at this level exhibit a high degree of sophistication and expertise both in design work and equipment knowledge.

• High school diploma (or equivalent) plus twelve years related experience OR an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus ten years related experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of state and local codes and ordinances, design input codes and standards.

• Excellent technical judgment and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and to give work direction to others.
• Strong math skill, manual dexterity and computer user skills required.
• Expertise in CAD production technologies required.

• Must be a member of AutoCAD User Groups (AUGI)
