Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Fort Lauderdale office as a Senior Civil Engineer working with mostly commercial and some institutional projects.

Job Duties:

Under direction, applies technical expertise and project management experience to manage project teams on conventional and unconventional projects. Also performs the basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management and marketing assistance. Functions as a mentor to technical professionals to assist in their training and development

Under direction, applies full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area.

On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications.

On assignments involving engineering investigations and planning work, has a firm grasp of the fundamentals of engineering processes and their application to operating systems.

On projects involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials or procedures, or difficult coordination requirements.

Site civil design and construction administration services are key responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Experience with site development to include design of utilities, grading and stormwater water management.

Ability to assist with local, state, and federal permitting efforts

Familiar with Civil 3D.

Knowledge and experience using of Interconnected Pond Routing Version 4 and other stormwater management programs.

Knowledge and experience with water and sewer modeling.

Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Good technical writing and computer skills.

May be eligible to receive project management training

Education:

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with four years' experience since B.S.; three years experience since M.S. Incumbents typically have six to ten years' experience since Bachelor's degree.

Professional Registration:

P.E. license is required.

Additional Requirements:

Needs to have engineering design experience as well as having some construction observation field experience.
