Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Austin, TX Civil Group as a Senior Civil Engineer.

Major Function/Role:
Under direction, provides the expertise of a seasoned engineer to all conventional aspects of functional area and applies advanced concepts and techniques to unconventional engineering problems. May function as individual researcher or technical specialist. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Job Duties:
Duties include preparing improvement plans & specifications for infrastructure e.g. waterlines, wastewater lines, storm drainage facilities, grading plans, roadways, storm water management (detention), hydrology, erosion and sediment control, etc.), earthwork calculations, quantity takeoffs, exhibits, etc. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices.

Education and Experience:
B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.

Special Skills:
AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge, MS Word, Excel, and MS Project experience required.

Professional Registrations:
P.E. license is required.

Additional Requirements:
Must have civil engineering design experience on commercial and residential land development projects. Experience working in the Austin land development market is a plus, but not a requirement. Must be able to coordinate well with others including, Client, external consultants on the A/E team, in-house civil design teams, landscape architects, surveyors, subconsultants, etc., and manage own design team of CAD technician(s) and/or designer(s).
