Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Completions Engineer to be responsible for delivery of wells project works in the hydrocarbon storage sector. Working with our wells team and as part of international multi-disciplinary surface and subsurface engineering team you will:
• Lead the technical delivery of projects for our hydrocarbon storage clients internationally. This will include both home office based engineering works and site based / operational works.
• Use your knowledge and experience of drilling / completions / Well Integrity to develop solutions to complex technical issues, communicating these solutions to clients and engineering them through to implementation.
• Lead delivery of our wells projects ensuring the solutions delivered by the Atkins Energy Storage business are technically excellent, commercially viable and aligned with the latest health and safety requirements.

You will work within the Atkins Energy business, predominantly facing the Energy Storage market and based in our offices in Scotland. Flexibility for travel to client sites in the UK and Europe and our multiple office locations is essential for this role.

You will be required to support our growth in the energy storage market via the technical delivery of wells projects. You will be expected to integrate both sound engineering knowledge and practice with an appreciation of technical and safety risk implications.

You will have planned and led engineering works on a variety of projects and be able to demonstrate where you have used both technical and leadership abilities to deliver to successful completion.

You will also have a strong interest in the Energy market with a good understanding of multi-discipline engineering (including Owners Engineer, FEED and Detailed Design) as well as asset management.



Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (preferably process or mechanical).
• Professional qualification such as Chartership.

Essential Criteria

• Demonstrable experience working in a completions and interventions engineering role:
• Understanding of well engineering design and construction, including:
o Knowledge of drilling equipment
o Knowledge of well intervention equipment (e.g. wireline, CT & snubbing)
o Knowledge of completion and recompletion operations
o Knowledge of suspension and abandonment requirements
o Knowledge of side-tracking and workovers
o Knowledge of surface wellhead systems and production trees 
• Experience in the preparation of programme documentations and risk assessments for site operations.
• Knowledge of well maintenance requirements including:
o Well & Wellhead testing techniques
o CBL/USIT logging and other investigative logging techniques  
o Management of isolations & barriers
o Interfaces with stakeholders (e.g.WEX, HSE, operations)
• Knowledge and experience of optimising completion design for both oil and gas wells
• Knowledge and experience of creating both budgetary and detailed cost estimates for well operations 
• Knowledge and experience of flow assurance analysis 
• Knowledge & experience of design software including:
o WellCat & StressCheck
o WellPlan
o Prosper, MBAL, REVEAL
• Demonstrable experience in the supervision of teams including:
o Onsite supervision of personnel and operations
o Use of Safe Systems of Work
o Witnessing of Testing (SIT/FAT)
o Accident/Incident Report
o Completing Daily Reports
• Demonstrable engineering experience and an excellent understanding of project delivery.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e. Borehole Regulations, DCR Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act. PUWER, LOLER etc).
• Knowledge of applicable Standards & Guidance (i.e. API, ISO, UK Oil & Gas & HSE PR, etc).
• Ability to understand a wide range of processes through review of P&IDs, operating instructions, etc and to be able to communicate this to a variety of levels within a client organisation;
• High level of communication skills, both written and verbal, and experienced in creating and presenting technical reports;
• Capable and confident of building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Drive and ambition to help us create a market leading business;
• Flexibility to travel and work from client sites.

Desirable Criteria

• A background in hydrocarbon storage or the conventional Oil & Gas industry
• IWCF Interventions or Drilling Level 4
