The Company

The creation of a new transportation division in Atkins brings together the capabilities of our Highway and Rail teams into a single business of 3,000 talented engineers and professionals. The UK transport sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and Atkins is playing lead roles in a diverse range of projects such as high speed rail, intelligent transport systems, digital rail and the driverless car projects. Our consultants are working with government, local authorities and private sector partners to develop integrated transport strategies to ensure the urban areas we live in continue to work.

The Role

This role presents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team, to play a leading role in building and executing our plan for the future, driving sales and proposition development in our Intelligent Mobility strategy and growth plan. It will necessitate ambition, creativity, technical knowledge, management experience and commercial acumen to create and manage new revenue streams for the business. The role will work collaboratively with business development, market and practice teams, and report to the Practice Director.

Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility will include:

• working with the IM team to develop our technical offerings and capabilities for IM-related services and solutions
• supporting client engagement on new and disruptive technologies, such as cloud based technologies, intelligent infrastructure, new integrated operational platforms, data exploitation and modelling, and multi-modal journey planning
• contributing to new value propositions and test existing propositions
• performing in IM technical or project management delivery roles, working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver to time and budget
• taking ownership and responsibility for the delivery of IM-specific assignments
• delivering in-year sales
• building pipeline
• devise cross selling initiatives, seeking to create new opportunities for Atkins capabilities across divisions and international offices
• developing value propositions with colleagues and proactively taking to market • working with Market Directors to position propositions effectively in the market and with new clients
• working with Client Directors to formulate key account plans, identifying opportunities for new service penetration
• perform competitor analysis and seek competitive advantage through differentiation
• planning strategic advantage through partnering and collaboration, supporting the pursuit process of major Intelligent Mobility opportunities with key partners • supporting Practice Directors with strategic resource planning activities to ensure we have the capacity and capability to capitalise on future demand
• developing and executing further growth strategies
• coaching staff on business development and opportunity/pursuit management and promote the business development career path
• ensuring the lessons from client feedback are shared and acted upon to help increase opportunity conversion and client satisfaction

Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

TECHNICAL / SECTOR:

Proven experience and technical exposure to several of the iM service themes, as outlined below:

• Strategic Consultancy: Strategic transformation, Advisory,Regulatory, Ethics Acceptance
• Data Exploitation: Mobile Digital Data - insights
• Cyber Security & Resilience: CAVs/AVs, Cyber advisory
• Reimagining Infrastructure: Understanding of the impact of CAVs/infrastructure integration
• Smart Transport: Smart Tolling, Parking, V2X connectivity, Customer and user experience
• New Transport Platforms: MaaS, Total Transport, Scheme design & integration
• Strategic Commander: Dynamic, optimised, intelligent transport networks/cities

• strong delivery background in integrated transport systems, transport modelling, systems engineering, solutions architecture, tolling or a similar technical specialism
• experience of delivering technology-related projects
• ability to express technical narrative to engage clients and a wider audience
• a curious interest in the technology and applications of intelligent mobility
• examples of market research and competitor analysis
• creativity in promoting innovative processes and products
• experience of technical report production and compelling technical narrative

• experience authoring compelling bids and pitching to clients with a high success rate
• a track record of leading and winning major revenue opportunities
• an ability to negotiate profitable contracts and being commercially astute • experience of successfully operating within a target-driven environment, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding targets
• experience managing a pipeline of opportunities, with solid account planning, timely reporting and CRM administration
