Senior Consultant – Rail Business Consulting

Our team is primarily made up of mechanical, electrical and civil engineers. We can all think across functional boundaries and have a well-informed understanding of the rail industry. Our principal clients include Train Operating Companies, financiers, lenders, investors, rolling stock manufacturers and regulatory bodies for who we;

  • Provide support in procurement and bidding processes,
  • Deliver independent technical and market advice across the asset life cycle,
  • Support business process improvements and approach,
  • Shape and deliver strategic projects, and
  • Provide strategic asset management advice.

Requirements

To be considered for the role you will likely be a Chartered Engineer and possess significant experience in relevant industry roles with experience in one or more relevant areas of industry activity – rolling stock procurement; rolling stock fleet management; franchise bidding and mobilisation; train operations; infrastructure projects; signalling and control system projects. You will ideally have experience in holding lead roles in large bids or procurement projects.

  • Able to analyse commercial and engineering information and draw conclusions / recommend actions,
  • Able to see the “big picture”, but happy to understand the details, including technical details, when necessary,
  • Able to manage complex issues and high value projects,
  • Able to think strategically and tactically,
  • Able to understand imperatives and summarise salient points,
  • Able to communicate effectively at senior levels both externally and internally, both verbally and concisely in written form,
  • Enthusiastic, with a contribution to make and a “can do” attitude,
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and demanding tasks.
