Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Winchester, VA Federal Group as a Senior Design Manager.
Major Function/Role:
Working directly with the client in Winchester Virginia, coordinating design requirements with many stakeholders for Federal projects on a long-term program. Work will be international MILCON
Job Duties:
- Within the scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating project assignments.
- Selects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to architectural problems in consultation with the Project Director.
- Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, specifications and construction documents for accuracy and completeness, and performing on-site inspections of projects under construction to ensure aesthetic value and quality construction.
- Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture; Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Architects with ten years experience since Bachelor's degree or nine years experience with Master's degree. Typical incumbent has fifteen or more years' experience.
Special Skills:
Strong technical writing and communication skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees. May be eligible for project management training.
Professional Registrations:
Professional Registration in field(s) of practice required, if available. Certification as a “Project Management Professional” (PMP) or “Certified Construction Manager” (CCM) required within one year of assuming this position. License in Architect and Engineering required

Ability to get a Common Access Card (CAC)
