Senior Electrical Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role will report to the Resident Engineer / Site operation Manager. The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the inspection of the works, and preparing daily inspector’s reports. They will ensure that the relevant work is being carried out in accordance with specification, standards, approved method statements; relevant approved drawings and that contractor fully comply with the requirements. They will also assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing and commenting on method statements and inspection requests.

 

Responsibilities

 

Site

  • Inspections of the contractor’s works
  • Review and commenting on relevant Technical submittals, as per RFP such as Method statements, inspection requests and As-built drawings
  • Site surveys and Carry out inspection of works in progress
  • Ensure contractor compliance with contract specifications and approved shop drawings
  • Witness the commissioning of major systems of the Project as described in the specifications
  • Review comments on Material submittals concerning constructability as a support to the Engineer and witness the field test
  • Coordination of all electrical services with other disciplines. He is also responsible for reviewing & authorising his inspectors’ daily reports, preparing his portion of the daily, weekly report and giving relevant input to the monthly report of his section of the project and contract requirements
  • To report Quality non-conformances to Quality manager and assist in closing out of the same
  • Monitor and report contractor progress and all activities
  • Generate and submit Weekly and Monthly discipline Reports
  • Generate, manage and maintain tracking and reporting schedules
  • Deliver all Atkins obligations related to the MEP Package under the Conditions of Contract
  • Assist the Project Manager / Resident Engineer / Discipline Engineer in delivering all other obligations under the Conditions of Contract
  • Assist the Project Manager and Resident Engineer in delivering all Atkins internal Project Management deliverables
  • Comply with and maintain all discipline documentation in accordance with Project Quality Plan.
  • To report safety violations to HSE Manager during his inspections on site.

 

Quality Health Safety and Environment

  • Ensure compliance with all Atkins QHSE policies
  • Communicate all hazard related issues through relevant channels
  • Ensure compliance with Atkins quality, health, safety and environment management systems
  • Record and inform QSE Manager of all incidents and accidents
  • Co-operate with QSE/HSE Managers
  • Observe health and safety best practice at all times
  • Assist contractors to better health and safety performance on projects.

Requirements

 

Technical Competencies

 

Essential

  • To have a recognised Degree or Diploma - minimum requirement of Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Auto CAD and Working knowledge of drawing control, revisions & issue protocols
  • Have an appreciation of other disciplines and coordination requirements within a multi disciplinary office
  • Minimum 8 years hands on experience working in Construction supervision of Building Services for Private, Government, Residential, Commercial, industrial, Retail, Leisure and Hotel markets
  • Understanding of British, American and International design standards
  • Good level of computer literacy in Windows and other Microsoft products not limited to MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to take ownership of and deliver MEP package on site independently not limited to:
    • Checking and clearing of contractors QA Submittals and Inspection Requests
    • Checking of and identifying all requirements for Testing and Commissioning of
      MEP works package
  • Direct and manage the Contractor not limited to the MEP works
  • Good knowledge of Document Control procedures
  • Good knowledge of QHSE principles and practices

 

Desirable

  • Reasonable knowledge of Revit & Electrical design Software’s
