Senior Electrical ICA Engineer - Epsom

Atkins Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering (MEP) division are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer into our Epsom office. As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead multi-disciplinary design schemes as well as provide leadership for groups of highly motivated, developing Engineers.

This opportunity would suit an Electrical Engineer, with experience of the UK Water sector, who can innovate and challenge standard practices. This role within the MEP team requires a great communicator who can integrate well and who can see beyond the standard approach to design delivery.

The MEP Practice within Atkins Infrastructure division is a well-established, multi-disciplinary, water engineering practice with an extensive global portfolio of asset creation, improvement and optimisation projects. Our technical expertise and highly skilled teams incorporate process, mechanical and electrical engineers, forming a multidisciplinary approach to delivering solutions to clients managing, building and investing in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.


The role of a Senior Electrical Engineer within the MEP division will require the individual to undertake the following duties:

• Technical input into optioneering, scoping, feasibility studies, outline and detailed design projects as well as support as required to other members of the project team
• Production of electrical, control and instrumentation design documentation and drawings
• Project Health and Safety including H&S project plans, site visit risk assessments & CDM awareness
• Contribute to Atkins digital engineering initiatives and
• Technical report writing
• Adherence to company policies and standards when delivering projects
• Develop opportunities through close liaison with both internal and external Clients
• Experience of project cost estimation and bids


• Candidates must be Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Chartered Engineer status preferred
• Demonstrable experience within the water engineering sector (wastewater and water)
• Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as significant experience technically
• Experienced in production/input to design risk assessments and familiar with relevant HSE legislation
• A desire to develop project management skills, in parallel with technical design including preparing and monitoring project programmes as well as monitoring project budgets
• Experience of project cost estimation and bids
• Capable of building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal line managers and external clients.
• Ability to lead and develop others

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
