Senior Engineer - Control & Automation Systems (PLC, SCADA, ICA, C&I) - EPSOM or ALDERSHOT

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced industrial systems engineer who thrives on variety, to undertake systems engineering design & delivery services to a varied client base across a variety of industries.

We are looking for an enthusiastic systems thinker who can apply their experience to client challenges to design and deliver innovative solutions. Projects range from typical Control & Automation projects through to very unique challenges presented by some of Atkins more diverse clients.

The Systems Engineering capability brings a broad range of industrial information systems & knowledge to bear on client problems. As such you will be working with a broad base of staff such as project managers, systems, application & software engineers, both internally within Atkins and externally.

Responsibilities

Senior engineer for the control and instrumentation aspects for a variety of projects, from system studies and investment appraisals through to detailed design.
Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors.
Supporting project managers through the design & implementation of technical solutions.
Work with others to support bidding activity.
Cultivation of strong client relationships through technical excellence.
Assuring technical delivery and ensuring quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Implementation of appropriate standards.
Specification, selection and justification of relevant equipment.
Generation of Front End Engineering Design packages.
Production of Technical Specifications.

Requirements

Essential

Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Control and Instrumentation Engineering or other relevant discipline.
Able to demonstrate sound technical experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to engage stakeholders at various levels within an organisation, building strong client relationships and engaging on a technical level.
Experience in estimating technical effort in relation to bids and ongoing projects.
Experience of technical document production throughout the project lifecycle.
Occasional temporary requirements to work away from home, both in the UK and overseas as project/client requirements dictate.

Desirable

Knowledge of mechanical & electro-mechanical systems in an industrial setting.
Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
Working within a multi-discipline engineering team and having a general appreciation of other disciplines' constraints and requirements.
Machinery Design.
Industrial Fieldbus systems.
Industrial Automation.
Industrial networks.
Experience of industrial safety system design.
Building control systems.
An understanding of electrical standards. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Pragmatic, approachable, problem solver.
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity in a technical setting.
Ability to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.
