Atkins is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Central Civils and Structures design team due to rapidly expanding UK transportation opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity for any candidate who is keen to undertake an interesting and varied role in supporting the delivery of engineering design within Atkins’ transportation projects portfolio.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following key requirements for the role;
 

Key Requirements:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (with specific reference to Bentley OpenRoads) and MicroStation
  • Experience of civil and multidisciplinary design projects (ideally Rail/Highways projects)
  • Technical based training and professional qualification (HNC in Civil Engineering or similar)
  • Evidence of on-going CPD in recognised industry applications (i.e. Bentley, Autodesk)

Additional Advantageous Experience:

  • Proven BIM expertise within delivery of engineering drawings
  • Technical leadership of CAD/BIM to both technicians and Project Management staff


Senior Engineering Technicians support the delivery of multidisciplinary designs ranging from feasibility studies to detailed design. The ideal candidate will have a background of successful delivery in structural detailing within either the UK Rail sector or UK Highways sector.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implementation and compliance of Atkins CAD / BIM manuals and standards
  • Production of Civil / Structural CAD drawings and BIM model input
  • The delivery of technical training
  • Advice and mentorship of junior CAD staff within the team on projects
  • Co-ordination of CAD and BIM model input to multi-disciplinary projects
  • Preparation and presentation of progress for discussion at meetings
  • Providing technical consultancy services to our clients within the transportation sector.
  • Use of the following technical applications: Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Navisworks, Bentley Navigator, Projectwise
  • Resolution of CAD related problems/queries
  • Infrastructure design processes within a multiple discipline engineering environment
  • Identify, interpret and apply required industry/ client/ internal CAD standards. To ensure that our finished product is Project, Client and BIM compliant

Location: Atkins Transportation division have CAD design teams based in Birmingham, Swindon, Cardiff and Bristol. The successful candidate could be based from any of these locations.
