We are looking to recruit Senior Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant with around 9-12 years’ experience in our Global Design Centre in Bangalore, India to support the growth of infrastructure projects in the energy, water, rail and highways sectors in the UK, with the opportunity for exciting opportunities overseas. This is an exciting time to join Atkins as we join SNC-Lavalin and become part of a larger global organisation that will open the door to new opportunities for further growth and development.

 

 

You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, help to coordinate Environmental Impacts Assessments and develop Environmental Management Plans for the design and construction phases of projects. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental or related discipline and have a broad understanding of all the technical specialisms required for an EIA.

 

We are looking for a professional capable of working within our environmental team with a focus on providing support to UK based projects and other international projects, including in the Middle East.  Applicants should have experience in their own specialist environmental discipline and of “EIA” coordination for development projects.  Interest in environmental management plans and inputs to master planning as well as good technical knowledge of an environmental specialism (such as ecology, geology/geo-science, water, planning or landscape) is essential.

 

We will help you build your career within Atkins and guide you in your route to Chartership through a relevant environmental professional body such as IEMA, CIWEM or CIEEM. Requirements

  • 9-12 years Degree or Masters in an environmental or science subject
  • Knowledge of the EIA process (knowledge of EIA in UK and EIA for linear projects will be an advantage) and environmental technical specialisms.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure
  • Have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other Atkins or client office locations.
  • Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes. 

Responsibilities 

  • Experienced in the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, including: EIA; options appraisals and iterative design processes; and environmental management
  • Project management experience of public and private sector clients
  • Experience of coordinating EIA for infrastructure projects in the road, rail, water or energy sectors.
  • Able to check and review complex documents, summarise and present the key issues in a clear and concise way, understandable to non-specialists.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to contribute towards strengthening existing or developing new relationships with clients.
  • Aptitude in identification, progression, delivery and success in tendering for new work opportunities. 
  • Able to work within a team and motivate others to deliver to high standards, on time and to budget.
  • Assesses any adverse impact on the environment;
  • Carries out environmental audits and environmental impact assessments;
  • Communicates scientific and technical information to relevant audiences in an appropriate form, via reports, workshops, educational events, public hearings;
  • Assists organisations to conduct their activities in an environmentally appropriate manner; 
  • Implements, reviews and advises on regulatory and legislative standards, guidelines and policies; 
  • To support management of projects from inception to handover.
  • To deliver project inputs on budget and to deadlines.
  • To support enquiries and help prepare bids to commercial and competitive standards.
