Senior Financial Controller

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Controller (Practices), reporting to the Finance Director of Transportation. This role will provide financial support across the 4 practices, working closely with the Practice Directors. This is a growing business with internal revenues across the Practices of circa £200m and a headcount of approximately 3,000. The Senior Financial Controller will have responsibility for a small team of Financial Controllers. This role will be based in the Midlands.

Requirements
• Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)

Essential Criteria
• Must be highly articulate, have a clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
• Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
• Understand and utilise Information Technology in the performance of work including Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities
• Providing daily management support and advice to Practice Directors.
• Lead and direct the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Monthly performance variance analysis and commentary for both Finance Director and Practice Directors.
• Lead, direct and develop a team of financial controllers
• Attendance and presentation of financial performance at Monthly Business Reviews
• Monitor overhead costs and work with the Practices to reduce the overhead cost base.
• Review weekly productivity levels and support initiatives to achieve budget.
• Provide support on project enquiries and bids
• Property Forum Representative.
o Liaise with Estates on property issues.
o Provide financial support and analysis for lease renewals and refurbishment projects.
o CAPEX controls for refurbishment projects.
o Advise the business on relative costs of Transportation offices.
o Advise the business on headcount distribution across the property portfolio -
• Active review and development of systems to support the business and maintain tight financial controls
• Ad-hoc support to relevant business improvement projects
• Support to the Finance Director and wider finance team on adhoc financial projects

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
