Atkins Infrastructure division have a great opportunity for a Senior Financial Controller / Management Accountant to work within our Cities & Development Market Team. Reporting directly to the divisional Finance Director, the Senior Financial Controller is responsible for the financial management of our Cities and Development Market operations within the Infrastructure division. 

Our Cities and Development market is a £100m revenue market, encompassing many segments of the built environment. This includes: residential and commercial developments, rail stations, education facilities as well as an international strand that covers projects in the UK and abroad for overseas investors and developers. Our aim is to help clients unlock potential in their land and property assets

The role is available initially as maternity cover with an ideal start date being in June 2019. Initial duration will be circa 12 months. The role could potentially be based from any Atkins Infrastructure division office – preference for Birmingham, Bristol, Colchester, Epsom, Glasgow, London or Warrington.

Responsibilities

• Line management of the team of financial controllers that provide day-to-day management accounting support, month-end accounts preparation, budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Collaboration with the Cities and Development Market and Operations Directors on the budget planning, forecasting and performance reporting for the market.
• Month-end accounts reviews and summary reporting.
• Involvement in major project and framework reviews.
• Management of cash-flow, in particular by setting monthly billing targets, monitoring performance and providing support to the business regarding billing and debt collection.
• Pricing and bid support to Project Managers & Directors for major/complex/overseas opportunities, including review of bid models.
• Liaison with Group Functions as appropriate on Tax, Treasury, Commercial, Cosec and Accounting.
• Provision of market strategy and five-year planning support.
• Finance support relating to Market-related investments.
• Overhead control relating to the relevant Market business unit(s).
• Ad hoc projects and support to the Infrastructure Finance Director.
• Development of the finance team.
• Involvement with wider Group financial improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) – with appropriate post-qualification experience
• Detailed knowledge of Atkins’ finance processes, standards and systems preferred but not essential
• The role will require some travel, mainly within the UK
