Senior Fire Engineer

AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice are looking to appoint a Senior Fire Engineer who is looking to further develop their career within a forward-thinking multi sector practice. This opportunity will involve working as part of a national practice of Design professionals delivering fire engineering design solutions to clients across a wide variety of sectors, including Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential and Transportation.

There is flexibility around where the role is based because although the majority of our current Fire Engineering team are based in the Derby and London offices there is an ambition to grow Fire Engineering teams in the North and Southwest.

Preferred UK locations: Bristol, Epsom, London, or Derby.

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will take responsibility for your own projects but also work collaboratively with other senior team members to develop the team and strengthen technical capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a range of sectors from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.
  • Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
  • Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
  • Developing fire engineering solutions on projects and ensuring the fire engineering strategy delivered.
  • Assess fire related risks in projects and working collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
  • Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations.
  • Undertake tenders for new work.
  • Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively a post graduate qualification in fire engineering (Applicants with different backgrounds also considered).
  • Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects – experience in other sectors strongly considered.
  • Strong experience working with a range of fire standards including but not limited to BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545.
  • Being customer and end user centric and cultivate that philosophy in our team.
  • Able to work towards chartered fire engineer status.
  • A flexible approach to the working environment.
  • Willingness to travel will be a positive advantage.
  • Fire modelling experience will be beneficial.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.
