Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Rail Sector Croydon Office

In our Croydon office we have a great opportunity for an ambitious Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

With more than 250 professionals at offices throughout the UK, Atkins’ geotechnical reputation is built on the skills, excellence and commitment of our people in all aspects of geotechnical engineering. Atkins is a leading consultant in the railway industry and we have a strong reputation in railway Geotechnics and a great depth of expertise that has been developed on a huge range of projects undertaken over the past 15 years+. 

We are now looking to recruit an experienced senior geotechnical engineer to take a leading role across our UK railway geotechnics activities. The successful candidate will have a strong reputation in the rail sector and have the personal drive to win work and deliver successful projects.

The successful applicant will be a senior geotechnical engineer with a proven technical and project management track record within the rail sector.

Candidates should have:
•A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally Masters or equivalent)
•Chartered status
•Proven experience as a geotechnical engineer in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment
•Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead geotechnical design teams
•Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients
•Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs
•Excellent report writing skills, self-motivated and with the ability to produce accurate work
•Experience of site work including ground investigations
•A flair for innovation
•A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas
•Candidates would require a driving licence

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
