Atkins has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years.


Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, GA office as a Senior Highway Engineer.   

 

Major Function/Role:

  • Under direction, provides the expertise of a seasoned engineer to all conventional aspects of functional area and applies advanced concepts and techniques to unconventional engineering problems.
  • May function as individual researcher or technical specialist.
  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

 

Job Duties:

  •  Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
  • Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices.
  • Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing and executing project assignments.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

 



Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. 
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S.
  • Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.


Special Skills:

  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Incumbent may be eligible for project management training.
  • Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Candidate will be involved at a high level for complex design projects such as managed lane and interstate/interchange design roles.
  • GDOT Plan Development process (PDP) experience a definite plus but not required.
  • Strong MicroStation and InRoads design software experience required. 

 

Professional Registrations

  • P.E. license is required.
