SNC-Lavalin is going through an exciting period of change.  A Canadian listed engineering and construction firm, on July 2017 they acquired the UK engineering consultancy Atkins bringing with it a great opportunity to re-position the SNC-Lavalin brand in the eyes of our markets and ahead of our competitors.  The combined group now has approximately 50,000 employees around the world and both Atkins and SNC-L’s offerings combined give us the opportunity to continue our growth.  The future of engineering and construction is in the greater use of data, combined with technologies to deliver our services more efficiently and bring different offerings to our clients.  From apps, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, to mobility as a service and digital asset management, we are combining our traditional engineering skills with technology to fundamentally change the way we do things. 

Role Summary

To work closely with the Head of HR for CRSA (Central Rail Systems Alliance), the senior management teams, business leads as well as key stakeholders through a period of change. You will be accountable for the delivery of HR operational objectives and processes that enable change and are fully aligned with the overall CRSA’s business strategy and targets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Applying change management expertise to ensure that changes are planned and implemented in a way that applies best practice, complies with legislation, realises intended benefits and minimises unnecessary ER activity, costs and disruption to delivery performance
  • Shape the implementation of the people policies, procedures and targets into CRSA to deliver the HR strategy
  • Ensuring that performance management processes are firmly embedded and promote a high-performance culture across CRSA. This includes supporting with the identification of critical skills gaps and a plan to close the gaps. Responsible for planning and implementing activity to ensure line managers and leaders are engaged with individual’s development and career progression and vibrant professional communities are created within the business and connected to partner organisations. 
  • Support the talent agenda for CRSA including succession planning and a well-resourced talent pipeline to meet the current and future needs
  • Provide effective advice, coaching and support to the managers to enhance their capability to deliver the CRSA strategy.
  • Support the creation and implementation of a resource plan to confidently meet the requirements of our current and future workload. This involves workforce planning for strategic hires, graduates, apprentices and trainees aligned to locations and professions in line with the commitments of CRSA. Optimising expertise will rely on aligning to processes in and connecting with partner organisations
  • Accountable for supporting with activity which enables a culture that’s inclusive, engaging, innovative, collaborative, safe and committed to high quality and high-performance outcomes.
  • Supporting line managers with activities relating to employee engagement including action planning, feedback
  • Integrating individuals into the Alliance in an engaging way so they’re clear on what’s expected and able to access essential information, systems and resources – emphasis on line management capability and support with resolving escalations
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external partners as well as unions to build a culture of collaborative working.
  • Responsible for the interface with HR teams in partner organisations to ensure HR operational excellence, maximum value for the business of expertise and practices in parent organisations and a seamless and well understood cycle of HR activity for individuals. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record in building effective relationships with management teams with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a complex matrix organisation
  • Experience of driving change and implementation programmes
  • Confident communicating HR best practice in a pragmatic way to influence behaviour and mindset change
  • Commercially aware, able to identify strategies to add value
  • Ability to assert independent view and challenge
  • Analytical and strategic capability to solve complex challenges in a pragmatic way
  • Experience of delivering across a full range of HR disciplines
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Customer focus and service excellence
  • CIPD or working towards
