Our Mechanical Engineering Group in Atlantic Canada is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in our Bedford Nova Scotia office to join our growing team. In this role you will be responsible for the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on serving our Major Projects group for work in the industrial process and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing clients, coordinating skill-sets with other offices and disciplines, and satisfying customer requirements. As a valued member of our team working collaboratively as a Senior Mechanical Engineer with AtkinsRéalis, you will have a passion for mechanical systems of all types. Your technical knowledge will have coverage on process piping, service piping, pressure vessels, material handling, plant HVAC, fire protection, and equipment specification.
Your role within the team
- Lead role for the mechanical engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion.
- Resolving complex design/project execution issues through the development of innovative solutions as required. Apply Project Management principles on management of own projects and of team members.
- Manage mechanical staff resources assigned to projects, mentor continuous development and participate in opportunities to recruit new team members.
- Providing technical guidance and quality assurance to mechanical staff to ensure the technical adequacy of mechanical engineering project work.
- Participating in the preparation of estimates and project proposals (or coordinating resources to do so) and approving the estimates for Mechanical Engineering.

The ideal candidate
- College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible for registration with multiple provinces in Canada.
- 10+ years of relevant design experience a must. Must have experience in selection and specification of mechanical equipment, piping, pumping system, industrial ventilation, HVAC, and general plant services. Working knowledge of all applicable building codes and industry standards. AutoCAD and BIM - Revit software experience.
- Experience in a consulting engineering environment, managing time, resources, and budget allocations.
- Strong client focus, including taking initiatives for Business Development, Marketing, and responding to RFPs.
- Willing to occasionally travel to project site within Canada.
