Job Description
Provide support to the Head of Pensions and Pensions Operations Manager in all manner of pensions and benefits activities across 10+ UK based pensions arrangements.

Key activities range from day to day management of external pensions administrator and supporting Trustees in annual activities, to providing support for corporate activities including projects and activities following integration with SNC-Lavalin.

Opportunities to take responsibility for large projects where appropriate and where can demonstrate aptitude. Expectation is for there to be significant pensions and benefits project activity to be arising over 2019 and 2020, with multiple opportunities to build experience and obtain exposure to senior individuals within the organisation.

Responsibilities
Corporate support activities:
• Assist with, and on occasion lead on, pensions governance e.g. around auto-enrolment / re-enrolment tasks, governance of GPP arrangements and other company pension arrangements
• Support for corporate driven projects, on occasion being appointed with primary responsibility for a project
• Develop communications materials for staff and lead projects to improve deliver digital communication and interactive web services to membership to enable self-service and engagement
• Assist with coordination of pensions information/activities relating to the Company year-end accounting and auditor queries

Trustee support activities:
• Manage relationship and activities being undertaken by the external administrators for Atkins Pension Plan
• Lead on company input into the annual Plan report and accounts
• Support the Atkins Pension Plan sub-committees (principally the Defined Contribution Committee and the Audit & Compliance Committee).
• Work with external Trustee secretariat team to ensure seamless service to the Trustee
• Coordinate employee communications on pensions including the annual newsletter and other Trustee communications

Administration Activities:
• As above, lead the day to day management and oversight of the administrators for the Atkins Pension Plan
• Be the escalation point for internal pensions queries from HR community and employees
• Be the escalation point for issues/queries relating to pensions processing activities carried out by the Reward centre of excellence (e.g. monthly contribution processes, annual renewal activities)

Requirements
Essential Criteria
• Relevant previous pensions experience essential. This could have been obtained from various sources, for example we are open to candidates from a pensions consultancy, administration, actuarial, or an in-house pensions background
• Experience of working with external suppliers desirable (in particular with third-party pension administrators)
• Experience of supporting the management of trust-based defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes
• Evidence of assisting with complex member queries desirable, e.g. investigating issues with appropriate stakeholders and enabling the administration team to communicate outcomes to members, providing direct communication where required
• Strong delivery focus, achievement of deadlines and customer service mentality
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
• Ability to make decisions, use initiative, and take responsibility for projects
• A professional manner and the ability to develop strong working relationships
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong team player
