Senior Permanent Way Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to become a key member of the team and have a high level of competency to deliver track design work within the Transportation sector. The work will encompass plain line, level crossings, gauging and S&C at all stages of the design process. The post will also have a requirement to integrate with a team of engineers in the Glasgow office ranging from Graduate to Principal Engineer levels across disciplines.

Requirements

• Proven Rail experience in a technical design
• HNC/HND/Degree Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Sound working knowledge of Microstation and BRT / Auto CAD and MX design tools
• Positive can-do attitude and prepared to take ownership for own work
• Hands on, current experience of designing and checking Permanent Way schemes in the to Network Rail standards and expectations
• The successful applicant will be a competent user of IT tools in particular Word, Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Deliver successful Permanent Way projects and PWay contributions to integrated multifunctional projects
• Meet the technical direction for track design within the multifunctional railway design team
• Understand and take ownership of all aspects of delivered design and be prepared to sign off on behalf of Atkins or Network Rail as appropriate
• Ensure less experienced staff gain suitable training and guidance to develop their skills and progress their careers as appropriate
• Ensure work is compliant with Atkins procedures, broader rail industry requirements with particular emphasis on technical assurance; safety; programme and budget
