Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Orlando, FL office as a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer/Jr. Engineer   
 
Major Function/Role:
 
Under supervision, applies technical professional proficiency to the investigation of engineering problems, the coordination of project activities, and the preparation of preliminary plans and documents. On design assignments, capable of clearly conveying
the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications.
On engineering and planning assignments, has a knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering processes and applies them successfully to piping systems. On construction assignments, understands construction methods and the translation of engineering plans and specifications into a constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
 
Job Duties:
 
Preforms work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment, to carry out diversified engineering projects or phases of a single project with relatively few complex features and requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering
  • This level may be achieved two years' experience since B.S. OR one years’ experience since M.S.
  • Three to Five years of experience
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit design platforms.
 
Special Skills: 
  • Good technical writing, computer and communication skills. Experience with hydraulic calculations (HASS) for automatic sprinkler systems preferred.
Professional Certifications:
  • E.I OR EIT License is required
  • P.E in Mechanical engineering or fire protection is a plus
  • Certified plumbing designer from ASPE would be considered.
  • Certified fire protection specialist from NFPA or NICET III certification would be considered.  
 
Additional Requirements:
Experience in designing plumbing systems. A solid understanding of the International Plumbing Code and the application of the various systems. Experience designing automatic sprinkler systems, standpipe systems and fire pumps. A strong knowledge of the NFPA codes and their application to fire protection systems. A strong background in Federal Government construction projects and requirements (UFC). A good understanding of Life Safety codes. Some minor travel may be required.
